Urban Decay Flushed | Review

12544929_10153830045582370_876342771_o (3)

This Christmas I was lucky enough to be given this Urban Decay product as a gift from my Auntie. I’ve never splashed out on Urban Decay before as I cannot justify that money when I’m living a student life. I’m always tempted but then I think about food and rent and then I have to drag myself away from all of this lovely makeup – which is really heartbreaking! But alas, I have been treated to some Urban Decay and oh my god, it is so gorgeous.

The set I have is a trio of Bronzer, Highlighter and Blusher in the colour Streak Flushed which seems to be the perfect tones for my skin. The saying ‘you get what you pay for’ is so true when it comes to this palette. It’s in a powder form but tends to go on with a creamy texture which makes it last pretty much all day. It feels so light and gives a really natural glow to your face. You can layer it up to get a more striking look, or use them subtly  for an every day appearance. I use each powder individually but I’m sure they would look great blended in together.

I have to add that I love the casing too. It is magnetic around the edges which holds the lid down. But it feels so good to open and close… The writing on the top of the case is embossed and for me it’s little things like this which just add to the product making it more and more adorable and nice to use. There’s also a really decent sized mirror on the inside which is a really cute touch.

I absolutely love this set and will definitely have to try out some more Urban Decay. Please let me know if you use Urban Decay and which of their products you’d recommend!

Collection Eyebrow Kit | Review

12477120_10153813074837370_1743031938_o (2)

I must admit, I’m a bit clueless when it comes to my eyebrows. I don’t really spend too much time on them in the morning, one because I have no idea what I’m doing and two because I have a fringe which tends to hide the mess I make of them. For a long time now, my eyebrows have been a bit of a disaster and I’ve not really done much about it.

When it comes to shaping them I tend to do that myself. I’ve only been once to have them waxed and that was for my High School prom four years ago. Since then I have tamed and plucked them myself, trying to keep them as much like the shape they were when I had them done professionally.

I’ve never been too into the whole ‘Scouse Brow’ look… I tend to have them looking more natural, but I’ve been constantly searching for the product that will give my eyebrows the perfect enhancement.

Recently I came across Collection’s ‘Eyebrow Kit’ which I thought I would purchase as it was only £2.99 which meant if everything went disastrously wrong, it wouldn’t hurt too much. It is a selection of three powders, clear brow mascara and an angled brush. They do them in Blonde but I went for the brunette shades. After trying them out I was really impressed. For the price they work amazingly.

The powders seem to be more creamy and go on quite thick meaning you only need a little bit on the end of your brush for a nice dramatic effect. The brush provided is firm and so this really helps when trying to shape your brows – it’s also really small which makes it perfect for shaping.

On the back of the box, it says the mascara locks the brow in place and it really does. The hold is amazing. I was worried that it would make them feel crusty or hard as though I’d hairsprayed my eyebrows but it really doesn’t. You can barely tell that you’re wearing it, however it really does the job of keeping your brows in place.

When these run out – which will be a very long time – I might upgrade to something  that little bit more pricey and see what that is like. But if you’re a beginner with your brows and want to try out a kit like I’ve done then I would definitely recommend this. The effect isn’t too harsh and leaves your eyebrows with the desired soft and natural look. I think this is a really good product.

Let me know what you use to shape and set your eyebrows. I’d really like to explore and find some more kits that might help with my brows!

DropDead Clothing | Review

twotwo (2)

I’ve been meaning to purchase some DropDead clothing for a long time now. They have had some pretty cute things on their website that I’ve had my eyes on for a while, and well… when this jumper hit the sale I couldn’t resist.

The clothes are quite pricey and I wouldn’t be able to purchase from the shop whenever I wanted too, but that’s what makes getting something from there so special. I have been dead excited for the parcel to arrive!

I initially just bought the yellow jumper but on purchase the website offered to throw in a tank top for free which was a no brainer. I quickly accepted thinking it was too good to be true, but it wasn’t! Both items arrived today and I love them equally.

I am super impressed with the quality of the jumper, I was worried that it was going to be a bit coarse but it’s completely the opposite. The fabric is so soft and light which makes it easy to wear in the summer and equally perfect to layer up in the winter. I absolutely love the design and the tears in the sleeves and body of the piece makes the item really unique. The shade of yellow used is also great. Sometimes yellows can look too bright that they take the colour out of you, or insanely neon which I really didn’t want. But this is subtle and almost pastel like. I think it compliments my skin tone quite well. I imagine I’ll be wearing this a lot in the summer!

The freebee is also amazing. I mean, when do you ever get an awesome free top thrown into the mix? Again, the quality is great. It’s kind of tshirt material but really soft and comfy. The seams look like they’re inside out which is something that I really love about the design of the top. It makes it that bit different. Last summer I went through a craze of cutting out sleeves in my band tshirts pretty much like this DropDead one so the design is really down my street. The cuts in the arms are quite low which is absolutely fine for me as I think they look super cute if you wear a nice bra underneath, but some people might feel a little too exposed. I’m sure it would look just as good with a vest top though!

All in all I’m really impressed with DropDead and might have to start saving up for another spending spree!

You can get the jumper in the sale HERE and the tank top HERE (I don’t know if the offer is still on). x

Soap and Glory Eyes | Review

20150620_141326 (2)

When choosing makeup I always go for the same products. This is probably because I have used them for a while and I fully trust them… it scares me to try anything different. However I came to realise that I never venture out of my comfort zone!

I went to the Trafford Centre in Manchester the other week with my aunty. If you’ve never been it’s like ahuge outlet with so many different shops and stores in there, it’s amazing – and can be quite overwhelming!

I went into Boots to replenish my mascara and eyeliner and automatically started searching for Natural Collection, but my aunty said I should try something new. So after spending a good half an hour looking for the ultimate mascara and eyeliner, we came across Soap and Glory.

The only Soap and Glory products I’ve used are the body butters and the body wash, which I find are so good and smell amazing. So knowing this I did have a little faith in their eye products.

20150620_141840 (2)

I decided to get the Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen which has an end kind of like a felt tip. I sometimes find liquid eyeliner a challenge to apply but since using this I don’t think I’ll ever be going back to a brush! It is super quick and super easy to put on. In pretty much one stroke you have a complete look. You can get a really gorgeous thin effect with this tip or you can go quite heavy depending on your style. I find it really easy to control too especially when doing the cat eye look. It dries with a bold, glossy finish and even though it is a little bit out of my price range, it is so worth it and I will definitely be buying this product again.

The next item that my aunty treated me to was the Thick & Fast Flash Extension Effect Mascara. Mascara always worries me that it’s going to come out gloopy or leave my eyelashes stuck together with big black clumps in them, but I don’t tend to have any of that with this mascara. It goes on so lightly and defines each eyelash making them look longer and fuller. It tends to stay on throughout the day and doesn’t leave grey shadows under your eyes like some mascaras sometimes do.

I must admit that I have been pleasantly surprised with these products and absolutely love the effect that they give to my eyes. They allow a subtle everyday look or if applied more heavily they can create a really intense finish.

I would definitely recommend these if you want to try something new!

Clinique 3-Step Skin Care | Review

20150223_203222(1)

For Christmas I was so lucky to get this 3-Step skin care set as a present. I was really excited to start using them!

I’d tried a few Clinique products before when my mum had gotten freebies, and they’re just so lovely.

All three of these products have been dermatology tested and all are fragrance free. So far they haven’t irritated my skin in any way which is absolutely awesome. In fact since starting to use these products, my skin feels and looks the best it has done in a long time.

Step-1 Liquid Facial Soap Mild

20150223_203237 (2)

I must admit this is a little sticky and has a bit of a gel like substance when if first comes out of the tube. But as a soap substitute it does the job amazingly. It seems to effortlessly take off my make up without me having to scrub away at my face leaving an overall fresh look.

Step-2 Rinse off Foaming Cleanser Mousse

20150223_203312 (2)

I think this is my favourite stage of the three. Aesthetically this foam looks gorgeous. When it comes out it almost has a pearl like look to it which is so pretty. It cleans my pores and even though it doesn’t claim to exfoliate, it leaves my skin feeling extremely smooth and hydrated. However, after these two steps my skin can sometimes feel  a little bit dry as they literally remove all of the grease and make-up from my face – which is why Step-3 is so good.

Step-3 Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

20150223_203328 (2)

This gives such a great finish. Applying this moisturizer after steps 1 and 2 leaves my face feeling so soft and silky smooth. The moisturizer itself is really thin and spreads easily and evenly over my skin. It seems to sink in quite quickly and doesn’t leave me with that greasy feel like some moisturizers do.

I am so impressed with this set. Not only does it make my face feel amazing, it seems to be clearing up my skin as well. I know Clinique is quite pricey and I definitely wouldn’t have been lucky enough to try out these products if it wasn’t for them being a gift. But if you have the time and money for this 3-step Skin Care then I would most certainly recommend that you try it out. Hopefully these bottles will last me a long time as you don’t need to use much of them when cleaning your face. However, when they do eventually run out I might have to save my pennies and purchase them again. It is such a beautiful set.

Soap and Glory | Review

These Soap and Glory body butters were a little surprise gift from Boots at Christmas. I bought two adorable Soap and Glory sets for my friends as a present and these three butters came free with them.

I never normally treat myself to things like this as they’re not really necessities and can be quite expensive, so I was really excited to try them out.

The one thing I noticed about them is they smell amazing! It’s a very sweet smell, almost fruity, exotic and tangy.

The butter itself is thick (quite like sun cream) but seems to spread easily and soaks in extremely fast leaving you with silky soft skin.

I tend to apply the butters to my legs after having a bath or shower and they make them so smooth! However I do find it difficult to get my skinny jeans on afterwards aha! But they so worth the struggle.

When first using them I was worried that they would be greasy and maybe ruin my clothes but they’re not greasy at all and just leave you smelling soo good.

The set itself costs £8 and includes:

The righteous butter – Body moisturizer

Butter yourself – Super rich body cream

Sugar Crush – Body buttercream

I must admit, I think my favourite is the Sugar Crush, it leaves your skin looking so shiny and to me, smells the best out of all three of them, even though they’re all gorgeous.

You can buy the set from the Soap and Glory online shop here!

EcoTool 5 Piece Complexion Set | Review

I’ve been meaning to buy makeup brushes for a long time, however, I’ve never plucked up the courage to do so. They’ve either been way out of my price range, or I’ve been too scared to choose the right ones. Anyhow, the other day I took the plunge and decided to indulge myself in an array of brushes.

I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I’d heard ZOEVA brushes are the best ones to get, but with living on a student loan, realistically they were way out of budget. I decided to head off to the local Boots store to have a nosey at what was on the market.

Having stood in front of a shelf full of brushes for a good twenty minutes, I finally made my choice and picked the EcoTool brush set, also throwing in five eye shadow brushes of the same make.

Not only were they in my price range, they were also really cute looking. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and all that, but these just looked like such an adorable set of brushes and also so well made. The handles are made from bamboo and the bristles are recycled aluminium ferrules and are super soft, I love the fact they’re ‘earth friendly’!

The brushes themselves are quite small, which adds to them being adorable but at the same time, they could be that tiny bit bigger. However, they still do the job and I find that smaller brushes are easier to use and more precise, but I guess that’s just my opinion, if you like larger brushes I’d recommend getting another set from their website.

They pick up the makeup powder so well, are easy to wash and dry really fast which is quite practical for when you’re at university and don’t really have anywhere to lay your brushes out to dry, (I might have to invest in a little pot to put them in).

I absolutely love this set of brushes and am so glad that I decided to finally treat myself. They make makeup so much easier to apply and create a gorgeously even finished look.

To purchase this set for around £10 ($14.99) click here

I really recommend this make! x
