Since watching Gossip Girl I have become a big fan of Taylor Momsen. It was when her character Jenny Humphrey got a new look, began wearing leather and heavy eye makeup that really began to grab my attention.
Girl rockers are hard to come across in today’s industry so I think it’s really cool that she is naturally wearing this look and has become a star for being herself.
Her punk / rock band, The Pretty Reckless, are also ace too. I’ve only just started listening to them as it was just recently I found out she is a musician. But I am slowly falling in love with them.
She’s a very empowering female, which is something I love about her, and comes across as strong and independent which is great to see, especially being a girl in today’s music industry.
It was only today that I found out she played Cindy Lou in the Grinch, it’s a bit weird that such an innocent child has turned into this rock chick, but at the same time, I think it’s pretty awesome.
So to show my appreciation to her, I decided to do a Taylor Momson make-up tutorial. I hope you like it.
For her eyes, she tends to just do a black or grey smokey eye, which I managed to achieve with the black and grey shades in my Gold Palette from Next. I started off with a dark brown eye shadow outlining where I wanted the black to go and then went over this with the black shadow.
She smudges her eyeliner underneath her lower lid and blends this through to the corner of her eye. Then I applied a lot of mascara to my eyelashes.
I feel as though she doesn’t put much foundation on and is lucky enough to have pretty clear skin. But to emphasis those cheekbones, I used some bronzer which just gives the look some depth.
Then for the lips, I kept it pretty natural with some browny red lipstick as she seems to wear a lot of darker colours on her lips.
Like Taylor Momsen, I too have a beauty spot just above my lip, so for this look I just emphasised it by colouring over the top of it with some brown eyeliner. However you could just draw one on.
To complete the look I added a choker, ruffled up my hair and pulled a sleeve off my shoulder to give a rock chick vibe.
Now all I need is my leather jacket and I’ll be on my way!
xoxo
I love how you captured her look, and I would definitely wear this 😊 you look lovely 😙

Thank you so much… I might actually start wearing this makeup! It’s quite heavy but it’s so flattering!
